It can be done! If only they want to do it! Richtec has integrated the SatcoDX protocol into their new set top box WT-1304P. This should make the final users very happy since now with the help of the “World of Satellites” Software users can now upload the laetest SatcoDX transponder data into this receiver in just seconds. There’s no longer any need to enter all of this data painstakingly by hand nor is there any need to use any second-party editing software anymore.

And to make the WT-1304P the choice for almost anyone, it can be used not only for free-to-air reception (FTA) but also comes with two CI slots plus integrated magic card reader for your PayTV enjoyment. The receiver can store up to 5000 channels from 72 satellites. A large, easy-to-read display on the front panel shows either the current channel or the current time when the receiver is in Standby mode. A set of ring buttons allow not only receiver operation directly on the unit but also its programming. This is always nice to have should the batteries in the remote control turn up dead one evening or if the loveable dog ate the remote for an evening snack. The CI slots and Magic card reader already mentioned above are hidden behind a flap. On the rear panel can be found the IF input from the LNB with the looped-through output as is now standard. Although this receiver is with super slim case, there’s also one Scart connectors to link the receiver with a TV. Two RCA video output jacks are also provided for those regions of the world where Scart is unknown. Two sets of analog stereo audio outputs are also available in this format. Dolby Digital has made its way into our living rooms and the WT-1304P rises to the occasion by providing digital audio (S/PDIF) via an optical output. The UHF modulator can work with both PAL (all norms) and NTSC signals. The serial interface can be used not only for uploading new receiver software but also for updating the receiver’s transponder data via SatcoDX through the use of a null-modem cable.

72 satellites and the update compatibility with Satcodx make use with a DiSEqC or STAB motor almost a requirement. No problem: The WT-1304 comes with both DiSEqC 1.2 and USALS. Even the owners of mutifeed antennas will be satisfied since this receiver can also control up to 16 LNB’s. It can communicate with the user in nine different menu lanuages. If searching through the menus is too tiresome then it is possible to set up so-called “Hot-keys”. This allows you to for example jump to the installation menu,the antenna settings menu, the editing screen or other features simply by pressing a single button. When the scart connectors are used, the choice between PAL, NTSC-M and Auto is available. RGB and CVBS outputs are also available on the Scart connector frequencies (LOF) for the C-band and Ku-band can be directly selected. Other values can be manually entered. The receiver can be set to operate under DiSEqC1.2 or USALS or can be used with a single or multifeed antenna depending on the antenna configuration. If more information is required on a particular signal, a double-push of the Info button to all of the relevant technical parameters and channel data, the channel’s signal strength and quality are displayed in a bar graph. Readers of TELE-satellite have free access to the “World of Satellite” software. This is available either on a CD-ROM or can be download from www.satcodx.com. Once the program is installed, simply enter in the activation code that can be found in every issue of of the mangazine so that up-to-date transponder data from every satellite around the world can be uploaded into the receiver. The process is quite easy in the WT-1304P. The receiver and PC are connected using a null-modem cable. The desired satellites are activated in the software, the Satcodx menu is selected in the receiver and Download is selected with the push of a button. An additional mouse click is all that is needed to start the transfer of SatcoDX data into the receiver. Filter functions, such as language, FTA or specific encryption modes, feeds or normal channels and much more, can be set up in advance.
