China will tighten its control over the illegal production, sale and installation of satellite TV receiving equipment.

The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television says no company or individual is permitted to produce, sell or install satellite TV receivers without official approval in line with Chinese law.

The administration said, however, regulation loopholes have exposed mainland audiences to political propaganda, violence, pornography and other negative programs from overseas TV stations.

The administration added it would increase regulations on manufacturers and block illegal devices from entering the market.
